IKAROS MARINE was established in 1998, in Pireas, Greece and is run by a family with a 4 generations background in the marine/yachting industry.
We are located in Pireas, one of the biggest harbors of the Mediterranean in the southern part of the Athenian coastline. Our premises are based between the Zea marina, a private 700 berths marina and the Mikrolimano marina, the base of the well-known Greek racing clubs including the Yacht Club of Greece of which we are proud members.
Our office employs a direct staff of 5 including naval architect, marine engineer, designer and a number of indirect employees; brokers and specialized subcontractors based on the work assignment.

Yannis KONTAXOPOULOS – Managing Director
49 years old, the founder of ikaros marine, has been a sailor since childhood.  He studied in Berkley University to be an aeronautical engineer at first and after working for some years in the aviation industry he specialized in yacht design. He has international work experience working in USA, the Netherlands and Israel.
He is the Dragon class IRC chief measurer for Greece and an IRC measurer.  

Marina PSICHOGIOU – Administration Manager
37 years old, Yannis’ wife and Dio’s daughter, runs the IRC and race organization departments.  She is an accomplished sailor with many national and international distinctions.  She is an author of children’s sailing books, an ISAF race official and is involved with the international Optimist class. 

Dio PSICHOGIOS - Project & Operations Manager
66 years old, he is a principal surveyor and he runs the engineering department.  He is a retired Rear Admiral (engineer) of the Hellenic Navy.  He holds, among others, an engineering degree in gas turbine engines from Delft University, NED and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Monterey Naval Postgraduate School, CA, USA.  Among others he has been assigned chief engineer in a number of Hellenic Navy vessels, he has been appointed commander of the NATO FORACS naval station in Crete and commander of Navy Seals and commercial divers division of the Greek Navy.  He is highly experienced in ship engineering and marine special projects.
